Police seize ransom amount

GAUSHALA April 23: The Mahottari Police have seized ransom amount taken from the family of one Pankaj Yadav of Sundarpur VDC-1 who was murdered after abduction.



The 25-year-old Yadav was kidnapped on March 17 from Mahendranagar of Dhanusha and his body was found buried near the Rato Khola (stream) of Anakar-4 in the district on March 31. The kidnappers charged Rs. one million from the family of Yadav, promising his safe release, but Yadav´s body was found buried.[break]



The police arrested one Krishna Purbe of Mahendranagar-2 on the charge of his involvement in the abduction and murder of Yadav two days ago.



He was arrested from Bardibas. Acting upon his statement, the police seized Rs. 440, 000 from a cowshed belonging to his (the accused) aunt Bhutti Devi Mahato, Inspector of Police Jayshree Raj Kunwar said.



The amount has been given back to the Yadav family and the accused is under the police investigation.



Prior to this, Kusheshwor Thakur of Bharatpur-3, Dhanusha and Ganesh Kumar Singh of Arnama-9 of Siraha were arrested on the same charge. They are being interrogated by detaining them at the District Police Office, Mahottari, it is learnt.
