According to REBAN, the event aims to promote art, culture and costumes of the place in the national and international arena.
Surya Bhujel, president of REBAN, informed that the area from Fishtail Park to Patan of Dihi will be decorated in a special way to attraction visitors throughout the event. Various entertaining events such as tourist race, boat race, kayak race and cultural activities of different communities residing in and around Pokhara will be the other attractions of the event.
The event will also showcase various rural handicraft products that are promoted by the government. “Foreign Ministry and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) are assisting us to bring handicraft products to the event,” Bhujel added.
The organizers expect more than 400,000 internal and external tourists to visit the festival. “We expect a financial transaction of around Rs 8 to 10 million during the event. The event will also contribute in attracting more tourists to Pokhara,” said Bhujel.
The organizers are inviting people from various parts of the country and abroad for the event.
According to Gopi Bhattarai, local businessman and one of the organizers, the festival is expected to cost around Rs 4.2 million. “We are deploying more than 60 security personnel to provide security. The area will be declared no-vehicle zone throughout the festival period,” Bhattarai added.
