The festival organised by the Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal ( REBAN) , Pokhara has begun under the slogan of Lets Eat, Dance and Have Entertainment in the Street". [break]
The main objective of the festival is to conserve local art, culture and attires with promoting the tourism at the national and international level. The festival is organised in an area of around three -kilometer from Fishtail Gate to Gaurighat and Barahi Chowk to Dihikopatan.
A live musical concert is taking place during the festival. The concert will showcase the Ghime Dance of Bhaktapur, Tharu Dance of Chitwan, Selo Dance of Tamang community, Kauda Dance of the Magar Community, Thakali Dance , performances by artists from national and international level, duet song competition, and live concert of note musical bands.
Inaugurating the festival, Chief Secretary Leelamani Poudyal expressed his hope that the festival would help boost up tourism business of the city.
He underlined the need of maintaining all physical infra structures and developing more tourist destinations to lengthen the stay of foreign tourists. He urged hotels and restaurants to give priority to Nepali food items in their menu.
Stating that border entry fee being raised from foreign tourists by the municipalities was not justifiable, Chief Secretary Poudyal said the government was effortful to take ahead the construction of an international airport in Pokhara.
REBAN central president Tejendra Bahadur Shrestha, tourism entrepreneurs Tikaram Sapkota and Ganesh Bahadur Sapkota put their views at the programe chaired REBAN Pokhara President Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai.
