PM’s press advisor quits

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Prateek Pradhan, press advisor to Prime Minister Sushil Koriala, resigned on Monday from the post.

"I have resigned from the post of the prime minister's press advisor with effect from today itself for maintaining my own freedom of expression," Pradhan tweeted on Monday.


Pradhan told Republica that he quit the prime minister's office to help the prime minister in his work.

Sources, however, said that he chose to resign from the office after Indian side expressed serious reservations about the article "Wrong advice" authored by Pradhan and published in Republica on Thursday.

Former editor-in-chief of Nagarik daily, Pradhan, was the editor of The Kathmandu Post and editor-in-chief of Karobar daily as well.

Also, the prime minister's Social and Development advisor Bijandev Pant quit the position on the same day.

Sources said he also quit following his article published in Naya Patrika daily courted controversy.
