PM visits Shah's family

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal visited the family of assassinated media baron Jamim Shah at the latter´s residence in Panipokhari on Monday and said Kathmandu´s poor security has been revealed by Shah´s murder.



Questioning capital´s security, he added, “Probe panel formed to investigate into Shah´s murder will come up with fact as who were behind the attack on Shah.” He told Shah´s family that the government will soon arrest Shah´s assailants.



An emergency meeting of the cabinet on Monday constituted a five-member committee to probe the murder.



Lawmaker´s want home minister´s scalp



Lawmakers from the ruling as well as opposition bench in a parliament meeting on Monday demanded resignation of Home Minister Bhim Rawal over Sunday´s killing of Shah in Kathmandu.



Lawmaker from various parties criticized the home minister for failing to maintain law and order and demanded his resignation.







Maoist lawmaker C P Gajurel sought clarification from the government about the alleged connection with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and with underworld don.



Responding to the lawmakers´ concern, State Minister for Home Affairs Mohammad Rizwan Ansari said the government already formed a probe a committee to investigate Shah´s murder and all the security agencies were mobilized to nab the culprits.



FNJ condemns Shah´s murder



The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) condemned Shah´s murder. Issuing a statement Monday, the FNJ also denounced the government for failing to nab Shah´s assailants quickly.



NHRC, other suggests govt to ensure safety



Meanwhile other media fraternity, business communities and human rights watchdogs have also condemned the Shah´s murder.



The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), issuing a press release on Monday said that current incidents of killings and violence in capital and other parts of the country showed that country´s security situation has deteriorated. It has demanded to bring the culprits to justice as soon as possible.



The organization also sought reliable security arrangement across the country.



Likewise, the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in a statement on Monday denounced the role of home administration for failing to maintain effective law and order in the country.
