ITAHARI, May 11: CPN-UML politburo member Pradip Nepal said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal should be ready either to quit or face punishment for disrespecting party decisions.

“Prime Minister Khanal is determined to extend the term of his job by ignoring party decisions. The upcoming central committee meeting will either seek his resignation or will take action against him,” Nepal said at a function in Sunsari. [break]

Nepal´s remarks were directed at the prime minister´s recent decision to award the home ministry portfolio to the UCPN (Maoist) despite the party´s decision against it.

Nepal also said the seven-point agreement signed between Khanal and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is against the interests of the party.
