PM Nepal talks to industrialist about Lumbini

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has urged industrialists and entrepreneurs to not to come with proposals to limit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha that stands as the pride of the nation.



In a discussion with industrialists and businessmen affiliated to different Chambers and Associations at the Prime Minister´s Office on Sunday, he said the Government has also decided to not allow factories to be set up in the Lumbini corridor and shift the industries already established there in order to develop Lumbini as a centre for religious tourism.



On the occasion, Prime Minister Nepal urged the concerned authorities to discuss with the stakeholders concerned and come out with a clear outline on how and when can the energy crisis can be resolved, and to put an end to dual taxation.



He also urged the FNCCI leadership to discourage the current trend of the business sector of owning only profit but putting the loss on the Government.



The industrialists on the occasion called for an end to the syndicate system in the transport sector, development of an industrial-friendly atmosphere and government-private sector partnership.



They also urged the Government to resume operation of the some 200 crusher industries currently closed down, and to reestablish that the certificate of origin is issued by the FNCCI only.



The business delegation comprised among others President of FNCCI, Kush Kumar Joshi, President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Surendra Bir Malakar, Lata Pyakurel of Cottage and Small Industries, Industrialist Diwakar Golcha and Pradeep Kumar Shrestha. RSS
