Inaugurating the Kirant Rai International Conference in the capital Sunday, Khanal expressed confidence that the conference would give important suggestions for building ´New Nepal´ comprised of communal harmony by studying the social diversities of the Nepali society, accounting that King Yalamber of the Kirant dynasty had begun the state affairs in Nepal. PM Khanal underscored the need of commitment from the political parties and civil society to conclude the peace process and draft the constitution to overcome the country´s present transition.
He said the government will address the genuine issues of the Kirant community.
On the occasion, PM Khanal released a documentary and souvenir based on the Kirant Rai community´s religion and culture.
In the two-day conference, eight separate working papers will be discussed on Kirant community´s identity, existence, proper statistics of the community in national consensus, rights of the community to be included in the new constitution including others, said the organizer.
Representatives from 11 different countries including India, the U.K, the U.S.A, South Korea, Hong Kong and other nations are present in the conference.
Speaking on the occasion, speakers of the Kirant Rai community stressed on the need for including the issues of the indigenous communities in the new constitution.
