“They must be loyal to the government so long as they have been receiving allowances from the government,” Pandey said.
Pandey also said the new constitution would not be in place until the Maoist combatants living in the UN-monitored cantonments are managed, integrated and rehabilitated. He further said the Maoists do not want to see integration and rehabilitation of their 19,608 combatants till next elections will be held.
“All the combatants should be brought under the command of the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants,” he said.
Pandey also accused the Maoists of not extending cooperation to the special committee and thus making the committee inactive.
He also criticized the Maoist decision to announce autonomous regions in December as part of their anti-government protests. “They are trying to invite chaos into the country in the name of announcing autonomous regions,” Pandey said, “Such an announcement will invite crisis in the country.”
