NEPALGUNJ, Nov 7: UCPN (Maoist) Standing Committee member Lila Mani Pokharel on Saturday alleged that the ruling political parties were blaming UN for ´interfering´ in Nepal´s international affairs to promote Indian interest. [break]

Addressing a press conference organized by the Revolutionary Journalists Association in Nepalgunj, Pokharel said such a statement on the part of the ruling parties was the ´stance´ of Indian establishment.

“Indian expansionism does not want to see peace process concluded in Nepal,” said Pokharel. “India wants to hold sway over Nepal´s affairs by displacing the UN from here.”

Pokharel said that the statement by the UN secretary general has been interpreted for India´s benefit.

Pokharel said the Maoist demand to form national coalition government was substantiated by the statement of the UN secretary general. “The statement of the secretary general was nothing but a reality of Nepal,” he further said.

Pokharel alleged that Indian intelligence agency, RAW, and the main opposition party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), were trying to derail the peace process in Nepal. “They have thought that Maoists could be crushed. But that is never going to happen,” he added.

He said that drafting the new constitution and taking the ongoing peace process to a logical end is just impossible without the formation of a national unity government.
