Parliament Committee censures Minister Ojha

KATHMANDU, Feb. 3: Women, Children and Social Welfare Committee of the Parliament passed a condemnation resolution saying that Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Sarba Dev Ojha worked against parliamentary norms and values.



A meeting of the committee held at Singh Durbar on Thursday endorsed the condemnation resolution for not being responsible towards Parliament as stated in the Article 38 (6) of Interim Constitution 2063. [break]



The Article says that all ministries shall the Prime Minister and other ministers shall be collectively responsible to the Legislature-Parliament, and the ministers shall be individually responsible to the work of their respective ministries to the Prime Minister and the Legislature-Parliament.



The motion censuring Minister Ojha was passed for the violation of the committee´s directions, skipping the committee meeting and refusing to provide the documents as sought by the committee, said Committee´s Chairperson Sandhya Devi.



Meanwhile, the committee also directed Home Secretary Govinda Kushum and IGP Ramesh Chandra Thakuri to present before its meeting on Feb. 7 over cases of violence against women in Rautahat, Mahottari, Parsa, Kailali and some other districts.
