Panel to probe Doti road mishap

KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The government has formed a probe committee to investigate Saturday´s bus accident at Rupasakanda in Chhatiwan VDC, Doti.



Krishna Hari Basakota, secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), said a 5-member committee has been formed under Atma Ram Pandeya, regional administrator of the far western region.[break]



The committee has been asked to find details of loss of lives and properties and situation of injured and submit a report to the government within seven days. It has also been asked to recommend measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.



The Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police in far-western region, Far Western Regional Director of Department of Roads, Chief of Seti Zonal Transportation Management Office and a representative of Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs have are the members in the committee.



Altogether 31 people were killed and 13 injured when a bus skidded and fell off a high hill road at Rupasakanda of Chhatiban VDC in Doti district at around 2 am on Saturday.
