Ahmed was found in possession of a suspicious blue-book of a Toyota Corolla car (Na.1.Cha 3237), which mentions his vehicle as a “private jeep” and him as a resident of Bhaktapur-7. [break]
The 37-year-old, who has been staying in Nepal for three years on the pretext that he has been facing threats from religious fundamentalists in his country, was arrested at Hepali Height in Maharajgunj by the Kathmandu Police last Saturday.
Police had picked Ahmed after another Pakistani refugee named Nasarullah complained to the police that Ahmed had twice made murder attempts on him and issued frequent threats of physical assault.
“We arrested him simply acting on his friend´s complaint. We, however, are looking if he is involved in other criminal activities,” said DSP Deepak Thapa, chief of Metropolitan Police Circle Maharajgunj.
The bluebook has been sent for verification to the Transport Management Office Narayani. “By Sunday, we will get an answer,” added Thapa.
As another significant lead for investigative officials, Nasarullah has stated in his complaint that Ahmed is involved in “smuggling activities” and that his vehicle is illegal.
However, Ahmed has claimed innocence, police said.
Police also conducted a raid at Ahmad´s rented quarter at Hepali Height. “We found that both the refuges from Faisalabad in Pakistan had enjoyed close relations that soured later,” said officials.
