Pak govt donates ambulance to spinal injury center

KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Pakistani government has donated ambulance to Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Center (SIRC).



Pakistan´s ambassador to Nepal Syed Abrar Hussian handed over the Nissan Urvan to SIRC amidst a function held on Friday.



Speaking on the occasion, chairperson of the SIRC Meera Jyoti said the ambulance was a precious gift to the center as the cases of spinal cord injury is increasing day by day.



She said that ambulance will be greatly helpful in the transfer of patients after injury and reduce the likelihood of a secondary injury.



The founder chairperson of the center Kanak Mani Dixit said the SIRC has been catering to the increasing number of spinal injury patients with limited resources.



The center located in Sanga, Kavre can accommodate up to 35 patients.



He also announced a fund raising rally under SIRC´s mascot, a 1973 model of Volkswagen Beettle.



The rally, to be held in late March, will start from Kathmandu and end in Lahore, Pakistan.
