KATHMANDU, March 9: In the March 5 House of Representatives election, over 8,000 votes were declared invalid in Bhojpur and Kaski.

In Bhojpur, the District Returning Office reported that out of 57,599 votes cast under the First-Past-the-Post system, 3,871 votes (6.72%) were found invalid. According to Dikrendra Subedi, Chief of the District Returning Office, most invalid votes were due to voters marking more than one election symbol, while some were cast deliberately or due to confusion. The district has 125,766 registered voters, and the Election Office said details of invalid votes under the proportional representation system are yet to be released.
In Kaski, out of 191,425 votes cast across the district’s three constituencies, 186,727 were valid, meaning 4,698 votes were invalid, representing 2.45% of the total, according to Rudra Neupane, Information Officer at the Provincial Election Office in Pokhara. In Kaski–1, 1,852 votes were invalid out of 71,806 cast; in Kaski–2, 1,208 out of 53,395; and in Kaski–3, 1,638 out of 66,224 votes were invalid.
