KATHMANDU, Dec 25: With the abolition of the monarchy, the Narayanhiti Palace– the then royal palace– was transformed into a museum some 17 years ago.
Over 4.77 million domestic and foreign tourists have visited the museum during the 17 years since its establishment. This number of visitors observed the museum as of mid-November after its setup.
2.3 million people visit Narayanhiti museum
Information Officer at the Narayanhiti Palace Museum and Republic Monument Management and Operation Development Committee Purushottam Thapa informed that as many as 260,000 people had visited Narayanhiti Museum in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25 while 46,700 had observed the historical palace since mid-July to mid-November in the current FY.
The government charges Rs 50 for students, Rs 200 for Nepali citizens and Rs 500 for SAARC nationals and Rs 1,000 for foreign nationals for entry into the Narayanhiti Museum.
The museum has been kept open on every Saturday and also on other public holidays.
