A cabinet meeting held at Singh Durbar on Tuesday decided to forward an ordinance, which is aimed at amending some existing Nepal acts, in order to make the government services including health, education and local bodies, among others inclusive. [break]
Ruling Madhes-based parties have long been exerting pressure on the prime minister for forwarding the ordinance.
However, it is not clear whether the office of the president will approve the ordinance immediately, as it has already put on hold five various ordinances while two have been rejected.
The government in August had forwarded ordinance for Disappearance, Truth and Reconciliation, Education Service (Eighth amendment) Ordinance 2012, Civil Service (third amendment) Ordinance, 2012 and Nepal Health Service (fourth amendment) Ordinance, 2012 to the office of the president for approval.
The president in the same month had rejected two election-related ordinances forwarded by the government arguing that they were nor relevant.
The government in last December had forwarded an ordinance, which was aimed at skipping parliamentary hearing for appointment of Supreme Court justices.
According to Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, the cabinet meeting also decided to forward the report on resolving the land deals arbitrated by the Maoists during the insurgency to concerned committee of the cabinet.
The government in February had withdrawn its controversial decision to legalize the conflict-era land transactions and have formed the taskforce.
Likewise, the government has decided to provide one blanket to each of the poor households affected by cold wave across Tarai region and provide relief to the families who lost their members due to cold.
Similarly, the government has decided to appoint Yubraj Pandey as the new vice-chairman of Poverty Alleviation Fund. It has also decided to transfer seven brigadier generals and a colonel of Nepal Army to new postings.
