Among the accused, police have already arrested Koirala, while Basnet and Rai are still at large. "We have mobilized the police with strict instructions to arrest them and we are hopeful they will be nabbed immediately," said Superintendent of Police Thakurram Bartaula, district police chief in Morang.
The FNJ district chapter had earlier submitted a memorandum to Chief District Officer Suresh Adhikari, demanding action against the three who are behind the attack.
Deputy Inspector General Binod Singh, chief of the eastern regional police office, said the culprits will not be spared under any excuse. "We will take strong action against the guilty no matter who they are," he said.
Dhakal was seriously wounded when a group under instructions from Basnet attacked him brutally at 10 pm Sunday. Kicked and punched and pounded with bricks, Dhakal sustained serious injuries to the nose, head and chest.
