Omani envoy concerned over travel ban on Nepali workers

KATHMANDU, April 27: Sheikh Humaid Bin Ali Bin Sultan Al-Maani, non-resident ambassador of Oman to Nepal during a meeting with Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal on Wednesday expressed concern over the government´s ban on Nepali workers to Oman.



The Omani envoy expressed concern about the ban during his meeting with Prime Minister Khanal at the latter´s office in Singha Durbar. [break]



According to the prime minister´s foreign relations advisor Milan Raj Tuladhar, the prime minister made clear that the ban had already been lifted. The ambassador reassured that the interest of Nepali workers would be well protected in Oman.



The envoy also hoped for increased labor force from Nepal in coming days. On the occasion, the envoy also asked the government to appoint an honorary consul-general in Oman to look after the interests of Nepali workers there.



Tuladhar said the envoy while expressing confidence that Oman Air can attract more European tourists to Nepal asked the government to double Oman Air flights to Kathmandu. The ambassador also assured that he would work toward encouraging Omani investment in Nepal.
