Officials of the NT have suspected that the fire was caused due to short circuit of electricity.[break]
According to Chief of the NT, Yogendranath Shrestha, Nepal Army personnel and a fire engine of Bharatpur Municipality brought the fire under control around an hour later.
Rectifier and battery of the control room were said to be very old and out of order.
Engineer Bhuwaneswor Sharma said they had demanded to change the 28-year-old equipment, and it caught fire due to lack of timely maintenance and change of the equipments.
Currently, equipments of the NT have been operated with the backup of battery.
