NPI elects new working committee

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The eighth general meeting of Nepal Press Institute elected a 10-member working committee on Saturday.



The newly elected working committee comprises P Kharel, Tapanath Shukla, Tirtha Koirala, Manteshwari Rajbhandari, Shobha Gautam, Laxman Upreti, Kundan Aryal, Sarachchandra Wasti and Kamal Pradhan. Gokul Pokharel, as outgoing chairman, becomes an ex-officio member of the working committee.



Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokharel inaugurated the meeting at SAP Falcha at Babarmahal. He said today´s press has fallen prey to the tendency to sensationalize reports with an aim of creating controversy. He said such a trend does not help nation-building.



The institute established in 1984 is a pioneering journalism training school in Nepal and currently provides media training and specialized media services.
