KATHMANDU, Jan 9: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday ordered one year jail term to Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) former general manager Yubraj Sharma and slapped on him Rs 5.39 million in fine and an equal amount in property confiscation after finding him guilty of corruption.

A division bench of Chief Justice Khila Raj Regmi and Sushila Karki issued the verdict in the case that charged Sharma of amassing property disproportionate to his sources of income while he was in office at the state-owned oil monopoly. The SC ruling comes overturning an earlier Special Court verdict that had handed him a clean chit in the case.
