The DPO which had exchanged premises with the Office of Comptroller General due to security reasons during the conflict period now wants to move back into its own offices, leaving the municipality employers searching for a new office building.
“It is difficult to work here due to the lack of space and the poor condition of the building. We have been informed that the DPO wants to shift back to this building,” said executive officer of the municipality, Tulasi Bahadur Shrestha. The municipality approached the Dolakha District Development Committee (DDC) requesting land at a different location, after the Nepal Army showed no signs of vacating the building.
“We have a few alternatives including shifting to the then DDC president´s house,” informed Suresh Raute, the municipality engineer. Municipality employees met with political parties in the district last Thursday and requested for the shifting to the DDC president´s house.
Ex-mayor of Bhimeshwar, Chok Bahadur Dahal, said that the government should arrange a convenient location and that the Nepal Army too should pay compensation to the municipality for using its building. He also requsted Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Rakam Chemjong to allocate money for the construction of a new municipality building.
Commander of Bardabahadur Battalion, Charikot, Yam Bahadur Sapkota, said the battalion should be provided a new facility upon vacating the municipality building.
