Talking to media persons at NC headquarters in Sanepa, Deuba said, "We can revive the CA for limited period to endorse a new statue if the parties arrive at consensus on all contentious issues. But if that does not happen, we should revive the CA even to go for fresh election. New election cannot be held without amending the interim constitution."[break]
He argued that amendment of the interim constitution through the CA would be the most legitimate.
Deuba argued that since there is no alternative to consensus, all major forces including UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Madhes-based parties should arrive at consensus without any further delay to resolve the deadlock.
"Parties should forge consensus on the type of election - either parliamentary or CA, as well as the number of election constituencies," he added.
Deuba termed the Maoist-led alliance of various political parties ´natural´. "No one has barred NC and UML to form similar alliance," he said.
