DANG, Oct 23: Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokharel on Saturday claimed the country will get a new prime minister only after UNMIN leaves on January 15 next year.

Terming the period after UNMIN´s term expiry as the country “entering” into a new phase, Pokharel said, “Only after that period the country will get a new prime minister and constitution-writing will gain momentum.”[break]

Coming down heavily on the UCPN (Maoist), he accused the main opposition that it was creating hurdles on the way to entering into such a new phase.

“We are trying to accomplish the army integration task on time and bid adieu to UNMIN from the country but the Maoists are hell-bent on holding on to their militants and weapons,” the government spokesperson said.

In a different context, Pokharel claimed the government will bring the full budget at any cost as soon as the partial budget gets flushed out.

“If not through consensus, the budget will be presented even amid protests,” he said.

He, however, expressed hope that the political parties will forge consensus regarding budget presentation and avert a situation of economic crisis.

“If not on time political parties will strike a deal at the eleventh hour and full budget will be passed,” he said.
