Election Committee coordinator Radhe Shyam Adhikari distributed the certificates amidst a special function organized at the party´s headquarters, Sanepa. [break]Elected President Sushil Koirala could attend the function as he has been advised rest for a week following health complications.
Elected CWC members including Dr Narayan Khadka, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Pradip Giri, Manmohan Bhattarai, Ramesh Rijal and Surya Man Gurung were among those absent during the certificate distribution function.
Addressing the function, NC Parliamentary Party leader and prime ministerial candidate Ram Chandra Poudel said he would not withdraw his candidacy until the Maoists renounce politics of violence and guarantee peace and promulgation of democratic constitution.
Poudel said NC would not accept the decision of Maoist and UML to obstruct the prime ministerial election in the name of consensus.
Koirala vows to respect sentiments of all party cadres
Newly elected Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala has pledged to move ahead by respecting the sentiments of all party cadres.
Issuing a press statement, Koirala also expressed gratitude to all those who voted him for the post of party president and also congratulated all others elected as party central working committee members.
He also urged those defeated in the election to take victory and defeat as a normal process and help steer the party through cooperation, respect and support.
Stating that the election has officially handed over the party´s leadership to the second generation leaders, Koirala has recalled that amendment to the party´s statute has ensured inclusion of all groups in the party ranks.
Koirala also thanked all participants in the convention for making the party´s ´unity convention´ a grand success.
Certificates distributed to Province-1 NA members
