The press release issued by the member and the Spokesperson of the Commission, Mohana Ansari, expresses the Commission's confidence that the newly promulgated constitution would help ensure the identity of Nepalis, their freedom and equality.The press statement further unveils that a total of 41 persons, 10 security personnel and 31 agitators, had been killed in the clashes broken out between the security personnel and agitators during the protest programmes waged by various Tharu and Madesh-centric political parties for a long time across the southern belts of the country in protest of state delineation.
NHRC has also expressed its concerns about the adverse effects bearing in mind the fundamental issues of the human rights as the livelihood of people, their employment, education, health, security and mobility due to the ongoing shutdown and agitations.
Stating that no sustainable solution could be sought to any issues through the shutdown, strike and use of force, the Commission urged the agitating parties to call it quits to their demonstration.
The Commission has yet again appealed the government and the agitating parties to sort out the differences through dialogue.
Similarly, the Commission has drawn the attention of both the government and the agitating parties to exercise utmost flexibility in reaching the logical conclusion, examining both the pros and cons of the new constitution which is first ever supreme law drafted by the Constituent Assembly.
"It is not forgivable in view of human rights to create a situation where children, women and innocent citizen have to give up on their lives," reads the press release.
The Commission urged the agitating parties to stop vandalizing private properties which eclipse their valid demands. RSS
