Nepse drops 3.11 points

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Decline in share price of Nepal Telecom (NT) and book closure of Capital Merchant Banking and Finance (CMBF) dragged down Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index on Tuesday´s trading. The benchmark index lost by 0.6 percent or 3.11 points to close at 513.71 points at the end of day´s trading.



Share prices of NTT and CMBF fell by Rs 8 and Rs 338 to close at Rs 482 and Rs 276 per units respectively on Tuesday. All trading groups in the secondary market saw their sub-indices down at the end of Tuesday´s trading, pulling down the Nepse, the indicator of investors´ confidence in the secondary market. Sub-indices of Banking and Development Bank groups lost 1.12 points and 4.38 points to close at 486.56 points and 572.52 points respectively. Similarly, Hydropower and Finance groups lost 0.61 points and 6.51 points to close at 801.54 points and 511.56 points respectively. The sub-indices of Insurance and Others groups also went down by 0.19 points and 9.4 points to close at 574.55 points and 566.32 points respectively.



A total of 82,269 units of shares and 64 scrips worth Rs 33.62 million were traded through 1,089 transactions. Market capitalization reached Rs 102.15 billion on Tuesday.
