According to the Department of Foreign Employment, the number of people officially leaving the country for foreign employment during a month period in January/February went up by 11,085 as compared to the same period in the fiscal year 2011/2012.[break]
In the last fiscal year 2012/2013, a total of 21,018 people left the country officially while the number has reached 32,003 this year. It is down by 65.75 per cent in comparison to a month period in December/January.
The departures abroad has reached 118.49 per cent. The number of people leaving the country for foreign employment during December/January was 35,337 against the 16,173 in the same period in the fiscal year 2011/2012.
The report provided by the Department says as many as 211,907 people have gone abroad in search of job in the current fiscal year as against the same period of the last fiscal year. It is an increase by 64.37 per cent from the same period last year.
During the seven months period, the highest number of people 88,890 went to Malaysia whereas only one person has gone to Israel, shows the report.
Director General of the Department, Purnachandra Bhattarai, said the number of people going for foreign employment officially has increased after the government implemented the guidelines on the ´Process of Acquiring Labour Permit 2069´ since September, 2012.
The implementation of directive has made the foreign employment service more prestigious, added Bhattarai.
