Sarada Bista, 50, of the bordering area, who had left home at three Saturday afternoon, was found murdered in the jungle near Indian village of Kajariya with bruises on her neck. [break]
Citing the wounds on her ears and nose, DSP with Kailali Police Rupendra Bam, said the murderers took away gold ornaments from the victim´s nose and ears weighing around one and half tolas.
. Locals said that her assailants might have raped her before murdering her.
Pointing to the bruises on her neck, her brother Giri Raj Kathayat said that she might have been strangulated. “She must have been murdered on Saturday as the body had already started to decay,” Kathayat said.
As Sarada´s body was cremated Monday without conducting autopsy, locals fear that the culprit will not be apprehended.
Her family did not wait for post mortem after police refused to lodge complaint saying that the murder took place on the Indian soil.
“The body had started to decay. The police said we have to file complaint with the Indian police and take the body to Lakhimpur, India, for autopsy by making arrangement of ambulance ourselves. We decided to cremate her instead,” Kathayat explained.
The victim´s husband has been out of contact for the past seven years after going to India for employment. While her eldest son also works in India, Sarada´s another son and three daughters live in Nepal.
