'Nepali' serving jail term in B'desh dies

KATHMANDU, Sept 19: Jog Narayan, who is believed to be a Nepali citizen and was serving jail term in Chittagong, Bangladesh, died at a medical college on August 1, said Nepali Embassy in Dhaka in a statement on Sunday.



According to the embassy, though Narayan had told the Bangladeshi police at the time of his arrest in March 2007 that he had hailed from Kapurfukua village, Kathmandu, the mission could not identify his relatives. [break]



He did not possess a Nepali passport at the time of his arrest, the mission said. The mission has also appealed to the relatives of Narayan, if any, to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.



Four youths held captive in Malaysia

ITAHARI, Sept 19: Four Nepali youths who left for Malaysia for employment three months ago, have been held captive by their employer. Those held captive are Lekhraj Dhamala of Hansposa, Sunsari, Suresh Karki of Itahari-8, Tikaram Pariyar of Pathri, Morang, and Kashiram Chaudhary of Nawalparasi. Shanker Karki, elder brother of Suresh, said the latter informed about the incident over phone. The four were employed in a plastic factory at Kelang, Malaysia. Their employment in Malaysia was arranged by Gandaki Overseas.
