Market for items like shopping bags and note books made of handmade paper is growing abroad, it is said.[break]
The hand-made paper is manufactured from a wild shrub called ´Lokta´ that is found in abundance in local forests.
The Himanchal Higher Secondary School, Nagi has been exporting the handmade paper products to Australia, the USA, Japan and Korea.
The school exported paper products worth Rs 344,000 to different countries this year. It exported paper products worth Rs 229,583 to Australia, paper products worth Rs 18,445 to the USA and paper products worth Rs 17,250 to Korea.
Similarly, foreign tourists visiting Nagi bought paper products worth Rs 89,130 from the school. The school has also been receiving increasing orders for paper products from abroad.
