She added that preparations are underway to establish an additional base at Ghansa on the Myagdi–Mustang border if required.

According to the APF, a security base has been established in a municipal building at Chharang of Loghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality-1, where an election security team of 24 personnel under the command of an Armed Police Inspector has already been mobilised by APF No. 33 Battalion. A total of 35 personnel will be deployed, with 11 additional trained election police to be sent later. The base is led by APF Deputy Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Raut.

A Quick Response Team (QRT) has also been formed in the district to strengthen election security arrangements.

Following the government’s decision to mobilise the army for the polls, the Nepal Army has begun daily patrols in various parts of Mustang, while APF border outposts and the Chharang security base have also started village-level election security patrols in Upper Mustang.
