Poudel said the office now faces the challenge of collecting the remaining 48 percent in just four months. Revenue collection has fallen short of monthly targets in every month so far.
During the current fiscal year, revenue collection stood at 74 percent of the target in mid-July to mid-August, 69 percent in mid-August to mid-September, 87 percent in mid-September to mid-October, 72 percent in mid-October to mid-November, 83 percent in mid-November to mid-December, 83 percent in mid-December to mid-January, and 88 percent in mid-January to mid-February.
In the previous fiscal year 2024 to 2025, the office achieved 74.64 percent of its target. The year before that, in 2023 to 2024, it had collected 63.35 percent.
Despite expectations that the Integrated Check Post at Jamunaha on the Nepal India border would boost imports, exports, and revenue, targets have not been met in recent years, Poudel said.
Monthly figures show that in mid-July to mid-August, against a target of Rs 1.86 billion, the office collected Rs 1.38 billion, or 74.14 percent. In mid-August to mid-September, it collected Rs 1.35 billion, or 69.77 percent, against a target of Rs 1.93 billion.

In mid-November to mid-December, revenue collection reached Rs 1.63 billion, or 83.45 percent of the Rs 1.96 billion target. In mid-December to mid-January, it collected Rs 1.69 billion against a target of Rs 2.03 billion.
