“The meeting was fruitful. The project steering committee critically reviewed the progress of phase I of the project, which includes 605 km of roads in the Tarai,” said a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

The statement added that in view of the delay in implementation of the project, it was decided to immediately start construction work beginning with encumbrance-free stretches, with the remaining stretches to be taken up as and when they are made available after removal of encumbrances.
