Host Maldives is drawn together with Bhutan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Group A. [break]
According to maldivescricket.org, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Maldives and Sri Lanka have already sent list of names of U-25 team for the tournament.
Maldives Cricket revealed that a team from Karnataka Institute of Cricket has been invited by the Maldives Foreign Ministry to represent India as BCCI is unable to send an U-25 team to the tournament because of their preoccupation.
However, as it is a SAARC Summit sideline event, the Maldives government wanted all SAARC member states to be represented in the tournament.
Maldives Cricket also revealed that Bangladesh Cricket Board is facing similar problems due to tour commitments of their national side, A-class team and the ongoing first-class domestic engagements. As such, the Maldives government is trying to find a representative team from Bangladesh for the tournament.
The draw ceremony was attended by Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed, senior government officials, officials of foreign missions in Maldives, cricket board officials, players and other stakeholders.
All the matches of the SAARC U-25 Cricket Tournament will be held in Fuvahmulah Cricket Ground.
