Nepal continues winning streak

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Nepal continued its winning streak in its Mumbai tour with a five-wicket victory over Nerul Gynkhana on Tuesday for its fourth consecutive friendly win. Nepali national cricket team is in Mumbai as a part of its preparations for the upcoming ICC World T20 Qualifiers to be held in the UAE in March.



Winning the toss, Nerul Gymkhana opted to bat first and scored 117 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. [break]



Opener Manish Rao scored 35 runs off 35 balls while Vishal Chitrakar scored 20 off 31 balls. Pace bowlers Chandra Saud and Krishna Karki grabbed two wickets each while spinner Basanta Regmi and Sanjam Regmi shared a wicket each.



In chasing the total of 118 runs, Nepal reached the target in 19.5 overs losing five wickets. Nepal did not start well as it lost its openers Subash Khakurel and Pradeep Airee cheaply. In form batsman Paresh Lohani scored unbeaten 48 runs off 55 balls with two boundaries and a six.



Gyanendra Malla scored 24 runs off 25 balls while skipper Paras Khadka scored 22 runs off 19 balls. Satish Shinde and Manish Rao grabbed two wickets each while Arman Sheikh took a wicket.
