The two sides have also agreed to give final shape within the next five months to the procedures for operation of goods carrier vehicles so as to ease transit between the two countries.[break]
An agreement was also reached in principle for Bangladesh to give concessional market facilities to a total of 146 products of Nepal and to soon sign an agreement on operation of Kathmandu-Dhaka bus service.
Accordingly, the Government of Bangladesh shall work to improve necessary physical infrastructure in its bordering region and the transportation facilities up to the port.
The two sides will work together to maintain a uniformity in the quality of goods, quarantine and health standards and recognize the certification of one another.
Commerce Secretaries of both the countries signed and thereby exchanged copies of the agreement and decisions reached at the talks.
Talking to RSS following the talks, Commerce Secretary Lalmani Joshi said Bangladesh has also reciprocated to Nepal´s on-arrival visa provision for Bangladeshi citizens visiting Nepal while an agreement has been reached for the central banks of the two countries to work together to enforce the use of currencies of both the countries to facilitate trade and tourism.
"We have agreed to take part in the trade fairs held in one another country and also hold trade fairs together", Secretary Joshi said while elaborating the conclusions of the talks.
Tourism promotion through ´joint tourism package´ and facilitate business and trade at the border points are also part of the agreement reached between the two countries.
Likewise, Commerce Secretary of Bangladesh, Mohammed Ghulam Hussain said both Nepal as the country with the tallest peak and Bangladesh with the largest sea shore carry abundant possibilities of tourism and emphasized on the need for the both the countries to work together to tap that potential.
"Bangladesh is also eager to invest in the hydropower sector of Nepal", he said and added that Nepal would also be doing necessary homework to give subsidized market facilities to electronic equipments and medicinal products from Bangladesh.
The talks today ended with a decision to hold the fifth commerce secretary-level meeting in Dhaka in February next year.
