Speaking at a media briefing in Ncell office on Tuesday, officials said they would focus on education sector in the upcoming year.
Under ´Adopt a School´ program, Ncell along with Save the Children, will contribute to improving the quality of education in 11 different schools in eight districts of Nepal. [break]
Corporate Communication Manager Sanju Koirala said, “We will target 22 schools next year.” Besides, the company is also setting up electronic libraries in collaboration with Help Nepal to provide easy access to educational materials for underprivileged students.
At present Ncell claims to have 6.8 million subscribers and has increased Base Transceiver Station (BTS) six fold in its three years of operation. Koirala further said that the company has been focusing on improving customer experience and having at least 50 percent solar powered BTS.
Meanwhile, ambassador of Finland to Nepal Asko Luukkainen visited the Ncell office.
Finland and Sweden have 51 percent ownership of Teliasonera, which is the parent company of Ncell. The ambassador inquired about Ncell´s operation in Nepal and expressed happiness over the role it has been playing to improve communication networks in the country.
