NC volunteers build 3,150 houses in quake-hit districts

KATHMANDU, June 21: Nepali Congress (NC) has said that altogether 3,150 new houses and huts were built in various districts as a part of the party's labor campaign to help the earthquake victims.



Addressing a press meet organized at the party's headquarters in Sanepa on Sunday, NC Spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu said 15,000 NC volunteers mobilized to help the earthquake victims also helped remove the debris of 1,125 buildings.

Likewise, volunteers helped build 1,085 school classrooms, a temple and 10 community buildings as a part of the labor donation campaign.


Badu said volunteers donating their labor for the cause of earthquake victims in various earthquake affected districts in the hilly and mountainous region hailed from Jhapa in the east and Kanchanpur in the west.


Separately, NC had set up NC Earthquake Victims Relief Fund at Rastriya Banijya Bank raise fund for the victims. According to Badu, altogether Rs 16.4 million has been collected in the fund so far. "We urge all Nepali nationals living both in Nepal and abroad to generously contribute to the fund," he said.
