KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Unified CPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal claimed that two main parties of the ruling coalition – Nepali Congress and CPN-UML – were not as serious as Maoists for political consensus.

During the tea reception organized by the party on Tuesday afternoon, Dahal also said that they were not making any allegations to President Ram Baran Yadav regarding his decision on army chief but wanted the issue to be discussed in the parliament.[break]

“We want to discuss the issue in the parliament in the perimeter of the constitution,” he said.

“Other parties could not catch the spirit of consensus,” he added. “They are not serious as we are.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and NC president Girija Prasad Koirala did not attend the reception.

According to Bishnu Rijal, PM’s press advisor, PM Nepal did not attend the reception as the Maoists did not send invitation to his office or home.

Maoists who have publicly boycotted Nepal’s programs and shown him black flags invited him only as a leader of CPN-UML. “We have invited all leaders of all parties,” Maoists spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said adding that they did not send invitation to PM’s office.

Koirala cited health problems for not attending the reception. Deputy PM and Koirala’s daughter Sujata Koirala attended the reception.
