GHORAHI, Dec 31: CPN-UML senior leader and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said on Monday that the leadership of consensus government should be given to Nepali Congress (NC) to provide the country an outlet from the current crisis and make preparations of new elections.

Addressing a function in Dang, Nepal said, “ (NC President) Sushil Koirala should be made the PM as his name has already been proposed for the post." He also ruled out conceding the leadership of consensus government to Maoists. [break]

Likewise, Nepal urged the UCPN (Maoist) leaders to relinquish their insistence on the revival of the dissolved Constituent Assembly, saying that the idea has ceased to have any meaning in the present context.

Stating that the opposition will carry out talks and protest simultaneously to overthrow the current Maoist-led government, the UML leader further claimed that their stir will finally succeed and be able to form a national consensus government.
