A 17-point declaration endorsed by the party´s gathering that concluded at Bidur of Nuwakot district on Saturday drew the conclusion. [break]Party delegates from all the eight districts in Bagmati and two other neighboring districts Dolakha and Ramechhap gathered in Nuwakot to discuss the latest political development.
"Ousting the UCPN (Maoist)-led coalition, formation of new government and leading the country toward fresh election is the victory of the democratic principles that is championed by the NC," read the declaration.
The document claimed that it is the NC´s victory because the political parties, which are always antagonistic to democracy, parliamentary system and separation of powers, have been compelled to adopt democratic principles in the political deal.
The party delegates held deliberations over various issues ranging from the party policy in the new election, intra-party feuds, disputes in the party´s sister wings, federal model, voters´ registration and nomination of candidates in the new elections.
The gathering concluded that ethnicity, language and religion shouldn´t be bases for state restructuring. "The major bases for delineating provinces in the federal system should be identity and economic viability of proposed provinces," read the declarations.
The delegates urged the party leadership to launch intensive campaigns with a plan to attract youths in the party and to run training programs on voters´ registration so that "unwanted elements" will no be able to influence the voters´ registration process. "This is a victory of democratic forces because the deal has salvaged the country from the clutches of those forces who want to impose totalitarianism and one-party autocratic system in the country," read the declaration.
Addressing the concluding function, NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel instructed the party members to concentrate all their energy to help democrats win the elections. "Now we shouldn´t make any delay to return to home districts and create a wave in favor of the NC," said Paudel.
Central Committee member Arjun Narsingh KC urged the local leaders to forget intra-party disputes and focus all energies towards the elections.
Over 200 Mahasamiti members participated in the three-day discussion.
