The sit-in was staged in protest of the murder of Kabiram Khatri, 53, of Duli-5, who also was the president of the NC village committee. The protesters have accused cadres of UCPN-Maoist of murdering of Khatri and have demanded stern action against the culprits.[break]
They have also demanded that compensation be provided to the bereaved family and the deceased be declared a martyr.
Khatri, who had gone missing since last Friday, was found dead in a stream at Duli VDC on Monday. NC and Khatri’s relatives have been refusing to receive the body unless his murders are brought to book.
