The meeting decided to induct three youth members into each committee as CWC members, mostly youths, voiced that both committees lacked representation of youth leaders.
The committees have been assigned to develop party´s official positions on contentious issues in line with the party´s manifesto and the plan and policies endorsed by party´s 12th General Convention, and present them to the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist Combatants and the Constitutional Committee.
The participants in the meeting asked party leadership to be cautious about the Maoist strategy to promulgate new constitution before the conclusion of peace process. They argued that NC should stick to its position that calls for successful conclusion of the ongoing peace process before promulgation of the new constitution.
During the meeting a dozen CWC members demanded that the party should pass a protest resolution against the Supreme Court´s verdict to send the party´s leader Chiranjibi Wagle to jail convicting him on corruption charges.
According to CWC member Nabindra Raj Joshi, the meeting asked the government to settle the row over the appointment of executive director of Bharatpur Cancer Hospital as per the existing laws. The day to day functioning of the hospital has been seriously disrupted as the Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League cadres intensified protest after the hospital´s board meeting on February 27 took the decision to replace incumbent director Dr Bhakta Man Shrestha with Dr Laxmi Narayan Singh.
Among other things, the meeting also passed a condolence motion over the death of litterateur Diamond Shumser Rana and also passed a resolution motion expressing condolence over the deaths of hundreds of people and huge loss of property in Japan due to an earthquake and subsequent tsunami last week.
Let’s live in peace and embrace diversity
