KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Nepali Congress (NC) on Saturday announced six key decisions following its first meeting after the Election Commission (EC) formally authenticated the legitimacy of the party’s current leadership.

The meeting, held at a banquet hall in Kathmandu, came after the EC recognised the outcomes of the party’s second Special General Convention held earlier this week in Kathmandu, clearing the way for the NC-led by Gagan Thapa to move forward under its newly recognized organisational structure.

According to NC Spokesperson Devraj Chalise, the decisions are aimed at strengthening internal unity, restoring organisational cohesion, and preparing the party for upcoming electoral and political challenges.

Here are the six decisions from the NC CWC meeting:

1. Recognition of change:
The CWC acknowledged the Election Commission’s official recognition of the outcomes of the NC’s second Special General Convention in accordance with the constitution, prevailing laws, and the party statute, describing it as a victory for democratic practice and institutional process rather than for any individual.

2. Call for unity:
The party urged all members, committees, and sister organisations at home and abroad to participate in the upcoming elections scheduled for March 5 with enthusiasm, mutual trust, and complete unity.

3. Reconnecting with inactive members:
The CWC called on members who have become inactive or left the party for various reasons to return and re-engage with the organisation.

4. Appreciation for senior leadership:
The committee expressed gratitude to former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and other senior leaders for their long-standing contributions, recognising their continued role as guardians of the party.

5. No opportunistic alliances:
Reaffirming its ideological stance, the NC said it would not enter into unnatural or power-driven alliances, pledging instead to uphold democratic values and principles while working to meet citizens’ expectations and lead Nepal’s development.

6. A new chapter:
The party called on all members and supporters to embrace what it described as a new phase of transformation, unity, and electoral success, and to contribute collectively to building a prosperous Nepal.
