“Nepal Bar Association consistently advocates the rule of law, human rights and independence of judiciary. If Singh is promoted, the principles of rule of law and government´s commitment to human rights and independent judiciary will be put into question,” NBA said in a statement on Friday.
The NBA´s concern over the promotion of the army general comes at a time when the government is making preparations to promote him.
It has also asked the government to launch investigation into allegations against Singh as recommended by the National Human Rights Commission and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
