“We target to cover Kushadevi, Rayale and Mahendra Jyoti village development committees (VDCs) through our new branchless service,” said Gyandendra Prasad Dhungana, chief executive of the bank, inaugurating the service on Monday.
He said the development of new technologies enabled the bank to provide services to the people at their own doorsteps. Dhungana further said the motive of the bank behind launching the services was to make the rural people get used to the modern services and develop banking habits, instead of collecting deposits.
On the occasion, Sristi Humagain, appointed by the bank to operate branchless services, demonstrated how transactions are carried out through the point of sale (PoS) machine. “The machine issues verbal instructions, guiding the customers. Hence, it will enable even the illiterate people to access banking services with relative ease,” Humagain said.
Under its service, the bank officials said the local of three rural VDCs of Kavre district can now deposit their savings, pay telephone and mobile bills and even purchase mobile service recharge cards.
During the program, the bank also handed over course books and reference materials to the students of 11 and 12 classes of Kushadevi Higher Secondary School as a part of its corporate social responsibility.
