KATHMANDU, March 15: Prime Minister´s Office (PMO) has made it mandatory for all diplomats seeking to visit Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal to do so through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

According to the prime minister´s foreign relations advisor Milan Tuladhar, Prime Minister Khanal has strictly followed the provision after he assumed the post of prime minister. [break]

“This is not a new provision. The rule is already in place and we have just followed it. All the meetings with the prime minister so far have been fixed by the foreign ministry,” he said.

Tuladhar said he has also been including an official from foreign ministry in his all meetings with foreign diplomats and other dignitaries. “We are holding such meetings in tandem with the foreign ministry,” he said. “The purpose of this is to make things systematic.”

Tuladhar added that new arrangement also helps to keep the things transpired between prime minister and foreign diplomat recorded.

Earlier, whe Upendra Yadav was foreign minister, MoFA had prepared a seven-point code of conduct to ensure proper coordination between Prime Minister´s Office and the foreign ministry regarding meetings of foreign diplomats with the prime minister.

However, the code of conduct was not followed strictly.
