DOLAKHA, Aug 1: The Ministry of Local Development has suspended the budget to be released in the name of District Development Committee (DDC), Dolakha, following controversy and suspicion of embezzlement.

The budget was supposed to be released for the construction of B P Memorial Foundation in Dolakha.

The ministry wrote to DDC Dolakha and subsequently suspended the money following an internal conflict in Dolakha district chapter of Nepali Congress last week. The ministry also instructed the DDC to release Rs 700,000 only after an all-party consensus at the local level.

Source said that the Local Development Officer Shankar Bahadur Thapa has also been dragged into controversy. Tara Devi Neupane, NC district president, claimed that Rs 1.3 million, which was released earlier, was also embezzled.
